Garden Prelude

MD165

Garden Prelude

In a secret garden hidden in the Metropolitan Museum Cloisters, the lovely Elizabeth performs a piece to enchant the blooms – a dreamy sweet melody to gently coax the spring blossoms.
The allium and tulips sway in a trance.
Bees and butterflies dance with the exquisite vibrations of the strings radiating the air.

Cathedral Woods Goddess

MD164

Cathedral Woods Goddess

She lives in the densely wooded forest.
The cathedral ceilings are lacy pine trees.
Her carpets are woven with moss, sage and ivy.
The droplets from clean rain make up crystal
chandeliers knitted together by spider webs. The lightning bugs light her path down the hallways.
It is a fine castle for this wild Queen who is
sometimes seen wandering its corridors at dusk.
The euphoric cricket opera plays on all night.

Winter Love

Winter Love

Miss Winter has her graceful snow laced trees.
She has her powerful storms. She forces us inward to nest and contemplate the darkness. Her giant snowflakes fall heavily and gather on every balustrade and iron gate. Sometimes she is unending and sometimes she is hope.
The reminder that spring will come and that everything must beautifully breakdown to begin again.

Zelda

Zelda

The fascinating Zelda Fitzgerald is the muse and inspiration for this pattern. She was glamorous
and sophisticated and known to have had “so many feelings”. The paradise garden on her gown is
covered in black onyx beads and dark wandering vines representing the tragedy that crept into her life.

Her wild life was full of light and dark but she lived fiercely, creatively and with passion.

Mooka

Mooka

On a bed draped of watery silk and mossy vines sits a muse for fairy tales and Gothic paintings. Writers and poets wait to share her secrets. Painters try to match her
alabaster skin with flowing paint. Stitchers will weave her gown with silk threads.
An ethereal goddess in the woods is
captured in a moment on linen.

Moon Flowers

MD137

There was once a little girl who wanted nothing more in this world than her very own fairy, so her grandmother, who loved to garden, whispered a secret. We must plant a night-blooming flower garden, she said, and by the light of the crescent moon, a fairy will come. So they planted their garden with fragrant jasmine, night phlox, evening primrose, and moonflowers as large as saucers. When the moon rose, the flowers opened, releasing their perfume into the summer air. The little girl watched in astonishment as a dainty fairy arrived with her plump pillow and luxurious satin coverlets, her chestnut hair smelling of orange blossoms, her dress wreathed in
ribbons of lavender and garlands of tinkling beads.
Now that you know the secret, you, too, can plant a garden and find your very own fairy.

October Opal Fairy

MD132

October Opal Fairy gathers the train of her gown, surrounded by a flurry of flowers in shades as delicate and varied as the glowing birthstone for which she is named. In centuries past, the opal was associated with superstition, but Queen Victoria changed its meaning when she proudly wore opal jewelry and offered the gemstone to each of her daughters in celebration of their nuptials. A magical jewel, the opal is believed to render its bearer invisible, so our fairy travels through the world unseen, seeking places of darkness that come alive with light when she appears.
Her iridescent wings reflect the colors of sunrise and sunset as the gentle scent of rose petals remains even after she vanishes.
